A Medicare rebate is available for a maximum of five (5) services per patient ( Medicare items 10950 to 10970) each calendar year. (Note, however, that allied health providers may set their own fees). Patients must have a GP Management Plan and/or Team Care Arrangements prepared by their GP, or be Commonwealth-funded residents of an aged care facility who are managed under a multidisciplinary care plan. The GP refers to allied health professional, who must report back to the referring GP.
An additional five (5) visits for Allied health items (Medicare items 81300 to 81360) are available for follow-up services for people of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island descent who have been diagnosed with a chronic condition by their GP.
